Present: Lessie Penn, Scott Peterson, Beth DeHart, Donald Lanier, Elizabeth Adams, Alma Mills, Sandra Harper, Joe Board, Phyllis Mann, Ellie Gardiner, Katherine Dalton, Courtney Gilstrap, Justin Davis.

The South Carolina Youth Court Association met September 21, 2005, for its regular quarterly meeting. The meeting began at 2:00 pm, following a luncheon and program which celebrated youth courts in South Carolina.

Chairperson Lessie Penn called the meeting to order. Lessie said that eleven member courts were represented at the Celebration event. Upon examination of the July meeting minutes, it was determined to delay approval until the list of attendees could be corrected.

It was moved and seconded that the Association meet every other month starting in January of 2006; motion passed.

The Association instructed Donald Lanier to go ahead with website maintenance and to present a contract at the next meeting.

The remainder of business was tabled until the next meeting of the Association in order to allow maximum time for Scott Peterson to talk with the group.

Mr. Peterson led a discussion about enhancing our Association. Among other things, he suggested contacting every youth court in South Carolina and urging them to join the Association. Mr. Peterson shared ideas for applying for a grant to build up our Association.

The next meeting of the Association will be on November 18, 2005.
