Welcome and
introductions by Rich Schilliro, SCYCA Chairman.
Introduction
of guest Ginny Barr, DJJ Juvenile Arbitration Program Coordinator
by Donald Lanier. Ms. Barr shared a interesting overview about the
Juvenile Arbitration Program, a S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice
initiative.
Guest Dr. Mitch
Miller, Principal Investigator assisted by Holly Ventura of the
USC, Youth Court Evaluation Team updated the SCYCA on the status
of the evaluation and shared some preliminary findings.
The SCYCA trainers
were introduced to those present. Requests for training can be directed
to Ms. Elizabeth Adams or Ms. Beth Dehart. Lunch was served.
Greg Rush of
the 5th Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court Alternative Programs Director
discussed juvenile pre-trial intervention programs.
General discussion
was continued by SCYCA members and after all business concluded,
the meeting was adjourned.
The next scheduled
meeting of the SCYCA will be January 14th, 2005 at the S.C. Bar
in the board room.
